On 25 December, the day after everything else is done, we lay out something that is decidedly not a julbord. A whole turkey, slow-roasted since early morning, brought to your table and carved in front of you.
With it: braised root vegetables, stuffing, Brussels sprouts with butter and bacon, gravy, cranberry sauce and mashed potato. Then a dessert in the English tradition and coffee by the fire. No herring, no ham, no jellied anything. Just one long, unhurried dinner, on the day the pace finally drops.
It’s a tradition we borrowed and made our own, and it grows more popular each year. Seating is limited.
